Visual Arts and Design Club

Visual Arts and Design Club is a community officially assigned to the Student Union of Bilkent University. It was founded on the 4th November 1994 with seven establishing members; Burc Talug, Cavlan Basarir, Pelin Ercan, Ozgur Yigit, Pelin Erel, Tansu Onturk and Engin Sevket, who are all presently undergraduate students at the Graphic Design Department of Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture of Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey.

The Club, Which is open for everybody who is willing to join and work with the other members, now holds more than 20 members, who are capable of working as a team and understand the needs and lacks of the Faculty. This aim is to obtain optimum gain of their student life, both personally and as a group. They are also willing to activate the other students of the Faculty and organize profitable team works for everyone. Their only manifestation is that they take no single truth as a doctrine and believe that everything is questionable. Their young minds are open to any new idea or thought; and their meetings which take place every week, witness endless discussions. Their activities are mostly supported by some of the graduate students, assistants and teachers.

Visual Arts and Design Club, in its first year, has organized conferences, exhibitions, concerts and other activities. The members also work in coordination with the other activities. The members also work in coordination with the other clubs of the Student Union, in designing posters, logos and other graphic material. They are also presently preparing a completely experimental magazine for their club, which they call "Thing" and are also planning to publish a regular magazine in the coming year. Certainly there is no end for their plans as long as they find the support and participation.
